Jessica Scruggs, Senior Analyst

Jessica has a broad range of issues experience including genocide prevention, violence against women, disaster relief, LGBTQ rights and poverty eradication. Her grassroots experience includes direct advocacy, legislative lobbying efforts, fundraising and helping to organize several multi-state activism conferences. Jessica has particular expertise in Latin America where she has worked as a translator and grant writer for HIV/AIDS advocacy organizations and with community development efforts in rural Mexico. She also served as an NGO delegate to the United Nations Commission on Social Development in 2006.

Prior to joining GPG, Jessica worked as a research assistant for CEDES and the University of Lanus in Argentina. Her research experience includes both field research and statistical analysis. Part of her work on the development of social movements in Buenos Aires has recently been published.

Jessica continues to volunteer with a number of human rights, health and women's organizations. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Washington state chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. She holds a BA with highest distinction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is a recipient of the prestigious Morehead-Cain Merit Scholarship.
